Festivals in the Netherlands

An incredible music festival is never very far away in the Netherlands. They serve up an array of genres in truly unique venues. You can reach most major festivals in the country by train, and organisers make an effort to ensure that shuttle buses help you cover the last few miles to the festival grounds.

Best Kept Secret

Location: Hilvarenbeek, in the south of the Netherlands

In just 5 years, Best Kept Secret has grown to feature one of the strongest music festival line-ups in the Netherlands. You'll get artists from a range of genres, including rock, electronic and hip-hop.

Take the train to Tilburg Station, a city in the south of the Netherlands. From here there will be shuttle buses that take you to the festival grounds.

PinkPop

Location: Landgraaf

PinkPop is one of the most famous outdoor music festivals in the Netherlands, and it just keeps getting better: in 2019 they celebrate their 50th anniversary! The festival takes place in the south of the Netherlands. Four massive campsites provide space for 50,000 revelers.

There are regular shuttle trains to and from Landgraaf, and extra direct trains on Friday and Saturday night from Heerlen to Maastricht and Eindhoven.

Down the Rabbit Hole

Location: De Groene Heuvels, Ewijk

Down the Rabbit Hole is a three-day music festival located in the De Groene Heuvels (The Green Hills) park. Since the 1960s, DJs, artists, filmmakers and designers have disappeared down the Rabbit Hole along with thousands of party-goers.

Take the train to Nijmegen Station or Wijchen Station. Free shuttle buses go to the festival every 20 minutes.

North Sea Jazz Festival

Location: Rotterdam

Despite what the name suggests, the North Sea Jazz Festival features musicians from multiple genres. This popular festival has been drawing crowds since 1973. It continues to feature as one of the best live music events in the world.

Take the train to Rotterdam Centraal Station, then transfer to the metro that takes you to Ahoy (Zuidplein stop).

Lowlands

Location: Walibi Holland, Biddinghuizen

A Campingflight to Lowlands Paradise, or simply Lowlands, is a popular 3-day music festival in Flevoland province. The festival draws large crowds and impressive artists, including the likes of Alt-J, Mumford and Sons, Flume and Bastille.

The nearest train stations are ‘tHarde and Lelystad, from which there are free shuttle buses to the festival.

Mysteryland

Location: Haarlemmermeer, near Amsterdam

Enjoy 300 artists on 17 different stages at colourful and energetic Mysterland. Expect the best in electronic music, along with fireworks and a lot of creativity!
