For this itinerary we recommend:

  • Interrail Pass: Global Pass
  • Travel days: 7 days within 1 month

Verona, Italy

Just like Shakespeare, we chose fair Verona to lay our scene. Though the route only begins here, the medieval old town and 1st-century Roman amphitheater are enough to leave any history buff lovestruck. More traditional romantics won't want to miss Juliet's balcony or a stroll through the countless charming piazzas.

Stuttgart, Germany

Next up is Stuttgart, home of some of Germany's most famous automotive brands. You can dive into the history of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche at their respective museums or retreat to one of the city's ample green spaces to enjoy some nature and maybe even a well-deserved beer.

Strasbourg, France

As you cross the border, the influence of Germany lingers in Strasbourg, the capital city of the Grand Est region. A stroll through the streets will see German-style half-timbered houses blend seamlessly with distinctively French architecture. Nowhere is the cultural convergeance more evident than in the cuisine which brings in the best of both worlds.

Montpellier, France

Our next stop is equal parts Mediterranean and metropolitan. Year-round good weather combined with ample landmarks make it the perfect place to get outside and explore. If you feel like ducking indoors for a bit, you'll have no shortage of museums and galleries showcasing old classics and modern masterpieces.

Zaragoza, Spain

Rounding out our route is Zaragoza, the capital of the Aragon region. As you explore the city, take a walk through time by soaking in the influences of Christian and Islamic architectural styles spanning hundreds of years of history. Don't leave without a visit to Nuestra Señora del Pilar basilica, a popular pilgrimage site and impressive Baroque cathedral.
