Eurail.com improves webshop and customer experience
Amsterdam, February 26 2018
Eurail.com, one of the largest online travel organizations in the Netherlands, has chosen Adobe Experience Manager as the advanced content management system for its worldwide webshop. This offers the fast-growing e-commerce company, which sells train passes online allowing travelers to discover Europe with a single Pass, more flexibility and speed when it comes to publishing content. Along with the content management system (CMS) the e-commerce platform is being renewed with the help of commercetools. Thanks to the integration between both systems it will now be possible for Eurail.com to further improve customer experience, simplify management, and more easily develop API’s to connect with partners. The new webshop is expected to launch in summer.
Agile, future-proof and user-friendly
The online retail sector is constantly moving forward with new technologies and changing customer wishes. To be able to respond to these wishes and move quickly, it’s vital to have an e-commerce platform that was created to do that. Adobe Experience Manager, which is part of Adobe Experience Cloud, offers a wide scala of directly applicable services, so that the development of customized solutions is no longer needed. This makes Eurail.com even more agile and gives them a future-proof platform. Eurail.com spends a great deal of attention to content creation with inspiring stories, practical tips and special campaigns and offers. Up until recently this process included the central content team and the technical support of among others the IT team. Adobe Experience Manager’s user-friendly functionality makes it possible to create content without the need for IT expertise. Because of this, marketing content can be published on the website much faster. On top of this, Adobe Experience Manager offers recommendations for SEO optimalization, functionalities for campaign management and extensive A/B-test options.
Improved collaboration with partners
Aside from direct delivery from their own webshop, Eurail.com also sells train passes through whitelabel partners such as NS Internationaal, DB (German railways), Trenitalia (Italian railways) and NMBS (Belgian railways). Next to that Eurail.com works together with several partners in different areas such as accommodation and travel insurances. To better serve these partners, an important condition within the selection process for a new CMS was the ability to support API connectivity. commercetools allows Eurail.com to improve their collaboration with partners with the help of API integration.
Quicker innovation based on microservices
Eurail.com chose as the backend for their new webshop the cloud-based microservices and API-first platform from commercetools. Recently, commercetools announced the integration with Adobe Experience Cloud. This combination offers retailers and brands more flexibility and agility. Eurail.com was looking for out-of-the-box implementations and this improved connection contributes to that.
“Eurail.com is an excellent example of a Dutch online retailer that’s growing fast and distinguishes itself from its competitors through technological renewal,” says Joanne Veenvliet, responsible for retail at Adobe Benelux. “A deliberate choice was made for an e-commerce platform existing out of Adobe Experience Manager and the e-commerce techonology of commercetools. This allows Eurail.com to quickly anticipate to changes in the market and use both solutions to their full potential. This gives rise to a future-proof platform that fits Eurail.com’s vision regarding IT architecture and forms a solid basis for further growth.“
“Adobe Experience Manager perfectly fits our wishes and future architecture,” says Hugo Knobbout, Head of IT at Eurail.com. “Adobe stands out among other suppliers because of their focus on improving the customer experience, which matches our customer-centric strategy. The platform is future-proof and suits our on microservices based architecture. Adobe helps us in realising our ambition to offer the very best platform for travelers looking to explore Europe by train.“
