Christmas markets in the QuattroPole cities

Leaves are falling, temperatures are dropping and days are getting shorter. Or, in other words, the most wonderful time of the year is approaching! A great way to spend the month before Christmas is to go Christmas market hopping in the so-called QuattroPole cities: Luxembourg, Metz, Saarbrücken and Trier. A magical trip!

QuattroPole

So, what is QuattroPole exactly? The diverse cities of Luxembourg, Metz, Saarbrücken and Trier have worked together under this name to create the perfect cityhopping itinerary. The cities are within an hour of train travel from each other, which makes it very easy to visit all 4 in a short or longer period of time.

Between 22 November 2019 and 6 January 2020 the Luxembourg Winterlights Festival comes to live, boasting several Christmas markets, many concerts and events. This creates a special atmosphere across the capital of the Grand Duchy. The Christmas markets in the city differ in size but visitors can try local specialities such as “Gromperekichelcher” (potato fritters) or “Boxemännercher” (brioche buns shaped like little people) at all of them until the 24 December 2019.

Trier

Christmas in Germany, no matter where you are, is one big celebration with choirs, wooden toys and of course plenty of Bratwurst. So come and get yourself a nice hot glass of mulled wine between 22 November 2019 to 22 December 2019, and shop the nicest Christmas gifts for your friends and family.

Metz

Metz is the second city that's on our winter planning. It has the biggest Christmas market in the Lorraine region, with 8 squares full of Christmas cheer! You can visit from 20 November 2019 to 29 December 2019 and see everything, either with both feet on the ground or from 60 meters high up in the lit up ferris wheel.

Saarbrücken

Saarbrücken hosts one of the most traditional Christmas markets in the south-west of Germany: the Alt-Saarbrücker Weihnachtsmarkt. It's there only from 30 November to 1 December 2019, held at the beautiful historical castle. Don't worry if you can't make it to Saarbrücken this weekend, there's another market in the centre that's there from 25 November to 23 December 2019
