The Alfama and São Jorge Castle

Start your 24 hours in Lisbon in its oldest district, the Alfama. Make your way uphill through its narrow streets by foot or by tram, and grab some breakfast at one of the many miradouros (viewpoints).

At the top of the hill you'll find the São Jorge Castle, a Moorish citadel that was later used as the Portuguese royal residence. Climb the thick walls for the very best view of Lisbon and the Tagus river.

Belem and the Jerónimos Monastery

Take a train to Belém and the famous 16^th century Belém Tower. From here, Magellan and Vasco Da Gama set out to explore the world, forever marked by the impressive Discoveries Monument.
