Berlin Night Express Train

Not only is the Berlin Night Express the only direct train link from Germany to Sweden, it also offers a unique travel experience. Part of the journey involves the train traveling aboard a ferry through the Baltic Sea. You don’t need to worry about airport check in or stressful traffic. You can relax and have a full night’s sleep, awaking in the heart of either Berlin or Malmö. All this in less than 10 hours.

Berlin Night Express night train routes

This train operates limited services. It runs on certain weekends and holidays from April to June. From June 24 it will have weekly departures. Check the Snälltåget website for up-to-date schedules.

This train does not run after August 18. If you plan to travel from Germany to Sweden on a regular service (not the Berlin Night Express) you need to travel via Denmark. If your pass is not valid in Denmark you will have to pay extra for the portion of your travels in Denmark.

From Malmö (Central) and from Berlin (Hbf) the train departs on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

The Berlin Night Express is the only direct train connecting Germany and Sweden. The train departs from Malmö and Berlin on different days in the week and runs on the following routes:

Berlin - Malmö

Reservations

Reservations on the Berlin Night Express night trains are compulsory. We recommend you make your reservations as far in advance as possible. Please note that this train runs only on certain weekends and holidays between April and June. From June 24 to August 18 it will have weekly departures.

If you book this train on the day of its departure, please note you can only do so until 17:00.

On board the Berlin Night Express, sheets, blankets and pillows are provided. Beverages and light meals can be ordered and served in the compartment. During the ferry crossing hot meals are also available for purchase. For traveling on this night train, your Interrail pass needs to be valid in both Germany and Sweden.
