Exciting changes to the Interrail Pass

Checking the timetable

Travelling with Interrail just got even better!

We’re very excited to announce some changes to Interrail that will make your European adventure even better.

Inspired by the trips Interrail travellers embark upon every day, these changes are designed to make finding the best rail pass for you, and booking it, easier than ever.

Here’s what you can do from 1st January 2016:

Book further in advance

You told us you want to plan further ahead. So we’ve extended the advance booking period for Interrail passes from 3 months to 11 months. You'll be able to book your pass sooner, at a time that suits you best. Then sit back, relax and prepare for your trip. All with the peace of mind that Interrail will have all your train travel needs covered.

Use your Interrail Global Pass to travel in and out of your own country

Every day we help people have the best travel experiences abroad, but we want to go further than that. So from 1st January 2016, the Interrail Global Pass is valid for two journeys in your country of residence. You can use these journeys to take a train from your local station and travel across the border, to an airport, or to a port. Above all, it'll help you save on travel costs in and out of your home country, and make your Interrail trip smoother from start to finish.

All Interrail Global Passes purchased after 31st December 2015 are valid for 1 outbound and 1 inbound journey in your own country, as long as it’s one of the 30 countries included in the pass. You're allowed to travel with more than one train during each journey, provided that the journey is completed within the same day. Read more about travel in your own country.

Choose from more travel period options with an Interrail Global Pass

We understand that every Interrail trip is unique. Every one of us has a different plan for the length of time we’ll travel. With this in mind, we’ve increased the number of travel day options available with an Interrail Global Pass. Travel days are the days on which your Interrail pass is valid during its overall validity period. They can be used both consecutively and non-consecutively. With a greater choice of travel days, you can choose a pass that best suits your plans.

If that’s not enough, we’ve extended the overall validity periods of Interrail Global Passes with 5 or 10 travel days, so you can spend more time abroad.

And finally…

We've changed the name of our Interrail Attica Pass to the Interrail Greek Islands Pass, because well... we wanted to!

Please note: The above changes came into effect on 1st January 2016. If you ordered your Interrail pass before this date, don't worry - the conditions and validity of your pass at the time you ordered it still apply. The above changes will not be applied to Interrail passes ordered before 1st January 2016.
