COVID-19 (coronavirus) update
4 March 2020
The health and wellbeing of DiscoverEU recipients travelling with an Interrail Pass is very important to us. We aim to provide you with the most updated information about possible travel restrictions and interrupted rail connections within Europe due to the COVID-19 virus (coronavirus). We advise travellers who are planning to visit affected regions in the upcoming days or weeks to check the travel advice of their countries’ national governments.
We are working closely with the rail companies that participate in the Interrail Pass to keep you informed of measures they are taking as well as any rail interruptions that could impact your travels. Currently, all national and international connections are operating normally, except for a few local connections in the Lombardy region in Italy. On affected routes, trains will simply pass by the limited number of stations that have been closed in small towns heavily affected by the virus.
For the latest information on train availability in Northern Italy, please visit the official website of Trenitalia, Italy’s national rail operator.
The situation regarding the spread of the virus is changing rapidly, so travellers should stay informed of any measures being taken by local authorities and comply with their instructions.
