Show your InterRail pass to receive your discount or special offer or contact the specific company in advance. The benefits apply during the validity of your pass, whereas free and discounted travel on trains, buses or ferries is only valid on travel days.

Cross the biggest lake of Turkey with TCDD ferries

InterRail pass holders with a pass valid in Turkey or an InterRail Global Pass get a free ferry crossing on the route:

 

  • Tatvan – Van (on Tuesdays and Fridays, when international trains are passing)

Just present your InterRail pass when you arrive at the dock.

 

Additional information

  • There is a direct train connection from Istanbul to Tatvan, which takes almost 42 hours. Passenger trains operate from each terminus to the ferry ports. The ferry from Tatvan to Van takes about 4 hours. The train continues from Van.

  • In Van you can take the Trans-Asia Express train to Tehran (capital of Iran). There is also an international train in the other direction to Damascus (capital of Syria). Your InterRail pass is not valid in Iran or Syria.

Visit the Orient Express Railway Museum

InterRail pass holders have free entrance to the TCDD Railway museum at Istanbul Sirkeci station (closed on Sundays and Mondays).
