Castle charisma

Luxembourg is famed for its grandiose castles – some of Europe’s most spectacular. Clervaux, on the River Cleve is a good starting point for some castle-spotting. The beaming white-walled Clervaux Castle protectively peers over the town. Vianden is another town blessed with castle-charisma billowing from its hilltop. While you’re there take a ride on Luxembourg’s only chair lift for a bird-eye’s view of the city and surrounding countryside.

Clervaux can be reached by train and is a 15-minute walk from the centre. To get to Vianden take a train to Diekirch and then connect to a bus.

Savour the nightlife

Start the evening savouring culinary delights at one of the city’s Michelin-starred restaurants (Luxembourg has more Michelin stars per square metre than any other country!). Then head to the Grund area, at the foot of the city walls, where you’ll find a vibrant selection of bars and clubs that kick into life as the sun goes down. Within the neighbourhood check out this little evening gem – Café des Artistes. This small piano bar often has live music seeping through its walls and the smoke-stained ceiling adds to the nostalgic ambience.

The Grund area is a 15-minute walk from Luxembourg’s main train station.
